Invisibly Straighten Smiles
The Invisalign Process
Traditional braces use a series of wires to place pressure on brackets attached to the fronts of teeth. This pressure shifts the top of the tooth. Then, the root adjusts to match the new position. Invisalign trays create the same pressure using clear, plastic aligners. These alignment trays are crafted to represent one step closer to the desired end position. When snapped into place over teeth, gentle pressure is applied, moving the smile into this new placement. It takes about two weeks for teeth to shift into their new position. Then, patients exchange the current set for the next set in the series.
The entire treatment plan is typically between eight and eighteen months. Unlike traditional braces that require frequent, lengthy orthodontist visits to adjust the wires, Invisalign patients only need to come to our dental office for a brief checkup every six weeks to two months. This gives our team the opportunity to make adjustments to the plan as needed. Additionally, there’s no need to change your diet or oral hygiene routine. You can simply remove your Invisalign tray during meals or while you brush and floss. Then, replace them to continue your smile alignment progress.
